The SPEA SMART Fault Tolerance Option System (SMART FTOS) automates system fail-over through a redundant hot/stand-by server network. High performance mirroring connections are established between the master and slave servers. Incoming/outgoing messages/ data are replicated on the master and slave servers. When the master server fails, the slave immediately takes over its role without loss of data. The SMART FTOS is highly recommended for and where system down-time is critical.
A Virtual Host ensures that one server is always running/up. Mirroring is done through a virtual link, preferably using a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet link. This virtual link is switched to a LAN connection in less than 5 seconds if for any reason the link goes down without losing connection to the database. The mirrored servers can be located far apart by using fiber optic cable connections.
The SMART FTOS is fully embedded into all the SMART Systems and fail-over is transparent to third party applications with no interruption in receiving or transferring data.
The SMART FTOS option is the perfect solution for all SMART System installations at Airports with high volumes of data and that require 100% availability. It is recommended at Airports that use the Airport Operational DataBase System (SMART AODB), Semantic Message Processor System System (SMART SMPS) and Baggage Reconciliation System (SMART BRS). |
