SPEA SMART Airport Operational DataBase System (SMART/AODB)

SPEA SMART Airport Stand Allocation SysSPEA SMART Airport Operational DataBase System The SPEA SMART Operational DataBase System (SMART AODB) is a state-of-the-art secure centralized data warehousing system that manages Airport flight schedules and operational data in a secure, centralized and shared data warehouse. It automatically captures information from all of the other SMART systems running at an Airport and shares it between them and external systems.

Uses of the Airport Operational DataBase System
  • Receive, process, store and distribute Airport operational data as required by the other SMART Systems.
  • Manage seasonal and daily flight schedules.
  • Essential part of the SMART cost-effective turnkey solution.
Benefits of the Airport Operational DataBase System
  • It is a single database for all consolidated Airport flight schedules and operational data.
  • Consistent and reliable data extracted/ received in a common repository.
  • Simplified internal and external data sharing.
  • Statistical data is available for "What-If" and trend analysis.
  • Improved service to passengers and Airlines with distribution of reliable and accurate information.
  • Increased revenue due to complete and accuracy billing data.
  • Lower data entry and rework costs.
  • Secure storage of Airport operational data.
  • Browser based and provides access to authorized users via workstations or the Internet.
Outline of the Airport Operational DataBase System

The SPEA SMART Operational DataBase System (SMART AODB) is a state-of-the-art secure centralized data warehousing system that consolidates all Airport flight schedules and operational data in a single database. SMART AODB has the core database that automatically captures information from all of the other SMART systems running at an Airport and shares it between them and external systems. It is a reliable and powerful tool that allows the user to accurately collect, process, store, analyze and distribute Airport data. The SMART AODB fulfills all the needs of the Airport to warehouse data and plays a key role in the SPEA's integrated Airport solution.

One of the key roles of the SMART AODB is to automatically update information from Airline Distribution Control Systems (DCS), Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Networks (AFTN), Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, meteorological data providers and the other internal systems of the Airport in real-time. The decoded data is received from the Semantic Message Processor System (SMART SMPS) that interfaces with these external systems.

The Flight Schedules Sub System of SMART AODB handles seasonal and daily flight schedules and records all flight, passenger and load information. Schedule information can also be entered manually by an airline according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) format in local time or Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The flight schedule include data on airline, flight type, flight number, movement type, flight duration, frequency, arrival/departure times, routing, aircraft type, seating, etc. This sub-system also updates the database with any modifications and cancellations of flights. Once the seasonal flight schedule has been built, the Mayfly (list daily flight by calendar date) for the Airport can be extracted. The data is updated in real-time as flights are taking place and distributed continuously to the other SMART Systems that handles ramp management, departure control, display of flight information, etc.

The SMART AODB also stores data on all physical Airport resources such as terminals, check-in desks, boarding gates, aprons/stands, conveyor belts, carousels, etc. The Statistical Data Management System (SMART STAT) utilizes the data from the SMART AODB to perform statistical analysis and the Airport Billing System (SMART BILL) to determine the items and amounts to be invoiced.

Features and Functionalities of the AODB
  • Data filtering, verification, warehousing and synchronization.
  • Intelligent data parsing capable of loading flight schedule data directly from a file.
  • Supports Slot Clearance Request (SCR) and Aircraft State Message (ASM) messages.
  • Conform to the standards of the (International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA).
  • Extensive library of plug and play adaptors.
•Optional link to land mobile radio (LMR) systems.
  • Pre-configured reports and the user can set up customized views of the database.
  • User-friendly and highly configurable Windows browser based Graphical User Interface (GUI).
  • Full seamless integration with all SMART Systems.
  • Robust, reliable and scalable system.
  • Supports concurrent users and is accessible from any authorized workstation.
